Superior Sanitary Churn, Circa 1912 for sale in Fox, Oregon

$250

An unusual component of Americana. 8 gallon Superior Sanitary Churn. These butter churns were made by the Superior Churn and Manufacturing Firm located in Northville, Michigan. They were a barrel type spin however as opposed to a wood barrel they had a stoneware craft. There are no paddles in this stoneware spin. Completion over end activity was more than enough to churn the lotion into butter. They were offered in 8, 10, 12, 15 and 20 gallon dimensions.

The glass lid is missing. The stoneware is excellent without defects.

The timber framework most likely predates the steel framework because a 1911 and 1915 advertisement along with the patent attracting showed the wood structure but in a 1924 advertisement the framework was metal.

Approximated manufacture of this device 1.
